Top of the World - Richard Carpenter & John Bettis, music & lyrics
For All We Know - Fred Karlin, music & Robb Wilson & Arthur James, lyrics
Becoming a Billboard No. 1 hit in 1973, the upbeat Top of the World was originally released on The Carpenter’s album A Song For you.
Richard Carpenter heard For All We Know during an evening of relaxation at the movies while on tour. He decided the song would be ideal for Karen and him to record. It became a hit for them in 1971, reaching No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and No. 1 for three weeks on the US easy listening chart. The song became a Gold record.
I still find Karen Carpenter’s voice remarkable after all these years, and believe Richard Carpenter was a brilliant musician, composer and arranger. These songs take me back to my high school days and hope they do the same for you.  Thanks for listening!  David
